Still There

"In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent"- Acts 17:30 (NIV).

Our pastor told the story of visiting a small church to preach one Sunday. He noticed and asked about a commode sitting in the vestibule area. The deacon told him that it had been there so long they didn't even notice it anymore. It had become part of the landscape, but it was still there. Sin is just as desensitizing. We become accustomed to its presence, and after being exposed to it for a length of time, sin makes its home with us, accepted by us. Don't be ignorant; sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2). We have to identify those sins we've become desensitized to and repent. God said, "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14). Don't allow sin to become part of the landscape of your life, unnoticed, but it's still there.
