"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come"- Matthew 24:42 (NIV).
There's an event on my calendar for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the fall bird count, so I'll participate by counting the numbers and identifying the birds I see. I prepare by having my field glasses, notepad and pen handy, plus I will be alert. You can't turn in a good report if you aren't prepared and watchful. We don't know on which day the Lord will come, but we're to be watching. Scripture warns us not to allow our attention to be draw away by carousing, drinking and the worries about this life. That will make a bad report. The day of Jesus' return is compared to a trap suddenly closing with no escape. We need to persevere, always be ready, watching and praying, so that we may be able to stand before the Lord when He comes (Luke 21:34-36). We will want our report to be filled with the best possible for the King of kings.
