Fragrance of Christ

"Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume"- John 12:3 (NIV).

The aroma permeated the entire house and those who left that evening left carrying the fragrance in them and on them; similarly, as followers of Jesus, we bear the fragrance of Christ. We are the aroma of Christ to those who are around us, both saved and unsaved, "to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life" (2 Corinthians 2:16). It's the fragrance of God, Christ Himself, not us, who speaks to their souls. We can't take the credit. The ax can't boast over the one who holds it, nor any tool. It is the One who holds the tool who holds the power to get the job done (Isaiah 10:15). We don't have to be gifted in word or deed; if we've been with Jesus, we carry His fragrance.
