"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint"- Isaiah 40:31 (NIV).
Joseph had been sold into slavery by his own brothers, thrown into prison, falsely accused for refusing to sin against God and then forgotten by those he helped when they were going through their own trials. While he languished in a prison cell, Joseph had all the ingredients for a big bowl of self-pity and hopelessness; but, Joseph's hope was appropriately placed in Almighty God, when many would have abandoned their faith as a result of their trials. Joseph would later tell his brothers, when God had restored and empowered him, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives" (Genesis 50:20). Every conquering army knows hope, and faith in God, needs to be eradicated before surrender and conquest happens. But the faintest spark of hope can easily reignite into a flaming torch, bodies become strengthened and the will restored...to rise again. Don't give up on hope in your storms. You will rise on wings like eagles.
