Give Thanks

"For everything in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever"- 1 John 2:16-17 (NIV).

Christians desire to know God's will. Paul warned the church in Ephesus to be very careful how they lived. "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery (excessive indulgence in sinful pleasures). Instead, be filled with the Spirit...Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 5:15-20). God's will for us, in Christ Jesus, is to give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18): Thanks when we rise to the mountain top and thanks when we are in our deepest valleys. Our thanksgiving should spring forth from the deepest recesses of our heart, knowing our Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed us, will return for us and we will live with Him forever. Give thanks.

Song: "Give Thanks" by Don Moen:

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us"

Give Thanks.
