"If only you had paid attention to My commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea"- Isaiah 48:18 (NIV).
Going through your day, not paying attention, puts you at risk to the schemes of the Father of Lies, Satan. Each day you must suit up in God's armor. A lot of people think there are only six pieces to the armor of God, but there are seven. The seventh one is prayer. The devil knows our weaknesses, even if we don't, and will use our circumstances, other people, even believers, to deceive us, manipulate us, and keep us unstable, unproductive in God's kingdom. Prayer is the most powerful way to reveal and destroy the devil's intentions, but we have to be alert; pay attention. When things are going haywire, it's not the sickness, the job, the finances, the relationship...we have to know who the real enemy is and pray. Horatio Gates Spafford wrote the lyrics to When Peace, Like a River in 1873: "When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrow like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, though hast taught me to say, "It is well, it is well with my soul."" Suit up, be alert and pay attention.
