Our Savior

"From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. He said: "In my distress I called to the Lord, and He answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and You listened to my cry"- Jonah 2:1-2 (NIV).

Like Jonah, there are times you feel you are in an impossible place to be rescued. There seems to be no escape possible, other than death. Jonah was in the belly of a great fish, breathing stale, foul smelling, air, while sitting in the remains of the fish's dinner. Meanwhile, his confines were deep under water. This was layered death: death inside and outside of the fish. Yet Jonah knew Who to cry out to for help. There is no place that God cannot rescue. You are never beyond His reach or out of His sight. "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine" (Isaiah 43:1). He is with you as you pass through the waters; they will not sweep over you. He is with you when you walk through the fire; you will not be burned. For the Lord God is the Holy One, our Savior (vs.2-3). Be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).
