"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship"-Romans 12:1 (NIV).
"Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee. Take my moments and my days, let them flow in endless praise." Henri Abraham Cesar Malan wrote those lyrics in 1827. Consecrated means to set apart, to transform, to dedicate for a sacred purpose, to make hallow. True and proper worship is fulfilled by offering ourselves, our bodies, as living sacrifices in His service. The Israelites looked for a spotless lamb, a perfect sacrifice; nothing less was acceptable to God. Our sinful bodies are far from spotless, so God provided the perfect Sacrificial Lamb, consecrating our bodies as temples for the Holy Spirit to reside. You have been set apart, transformed, dedicated. Do not ignore your sacred purpose by treating your offering with little regard. Do you worship by treating your body as an offering to God?
