Intentional Living

"So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God"- 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV).

Our life is to be lived intentionally: everything we say or do is to glorify God. Even though eating and drinking seem inconsequential, the fact is every action, minuscule or mammoth, is from Him, through Him and to Him (Romans 11:36). A life needs self-examination to determine if there is anything whatsoever that would dishonor God. Some are conspicuous, but others have to be fleshed out: the way we drive, the tip we leave our food server, when we are overlooked or out-performed, when we're pressed for time, etc. Emotions should not rule over us, because you can be certain they will betray you. Worse yet, our negative emotions ignite behaviors that dishonor the image of the One we bear. We are far from perfect, but we "press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called [us] heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14). Live your life intentionally, which requires periods of self-examination, confession, and contrition.
